Queen Latifah: Fit and Curvy

Queen Latifah's Transformation shows that you don't have to be stick skinny to be healthy. The experts say losing 5 to 10% of your current weight over a 6 month period can have dramatic effects for your cardiovascular health and other diseases. Get started on your fit and curvy journey by making food swaps. Go Brown: eat whole wheat bread, brown rice, and other whole grains. Reduce your sugar intake by cutting down on soda (squirt some lemon and lime in your water instead). Of course eat tons of Fruits and Veggies.  For more tips look at my articles on Clean Eating, click here!

Weight of the Nation

Goddesses, did you have an opportunity to view the HBO Documentary Weight of a Nation?? If you need some motivation to get in shape and eat healthier then this video is a must! The documentary talked about the effect that the U.S.'s Food Toxic environment is having on children. They stated that 1 in 3 children born after the year 2000 will develop diabetes....Scary!! They also highlighted the fact that OUR community is disproportionately by the Obesity Crisis. You already know that our communities have a lack physical spaces for exercise, affordable healthy food options, and an overabundance of fast food outlets. We have a lot of work to do to get our families healthy.

You can find the videos at   http://theweightofthenation.hbo.com/films.
