Motivated by the lack of information about Black Women's Fitness issues, I am creating a Community for Black Women to voice their concerns and discuss issues related to physical health. I will share information about my experience. We all know that the Black Women's experience has its complexities. From the prevalence of diabetes and breast cancer in our community to not working out because we just paid $75 dollars to get our hair done, there are a ton of issues!
Goddesses, did you have an opportunity to view the HBO Documentary Weight of a Nation?? If you need some motivation to get in shape and eat healthier then this video is a must! The documentary talked about the effect that the U.S.'s Food Toxic environment is having on children. They stated that 1 in 3 children born after the year 2000 will develop diabetes....Scary!! They also highlighted the fact that OUR community is disproportionately by the Obesity Crisis. You already know that our communities have a lack physical spaces for exercise, affordable healthy food options, and an overabundance of fast food outlets. We have a lot of work to do to get our families healthy.
