Motivated by the lack of information about Black Women's Fitness issues, I am creating a Community for Black Women to voice their concerns and discuss issues related to physical health. I will share information about my experience. We all know that the Black Women's experience has its complexities. From the prevalence of diabetes and breast cancer in our community to not working out because we just paid $75 dollars to get our hair done, there are a ton of issues!

Product Review: Kashi Go Lean Crunch
So I am a breakfast junkie. I must start my morning with breakfast of some sort. I typically don't have time to fix eggs and toast, so I have to eat cereal. I came across Kashi Go Lean Crunch when I was undergrad, at that time I used to eat if for the taste. My mom re-introduced it to me and pointed out the nutrition benefits.
Now, I am no nutrition expert but I thought this cereal was worth talking about because this is the only cereal I have found where 1 bowl keeps me full until my mid-morning snack or lunch (fruit or yogurt). It is high in protein, fiber, and omega-3. I love it because it has less calories than your typical box of granola and it is still sweet and crunchy.
The cereal has 200 calories (240 cal w/ 2% milk), 8g of fiber, and 9g of protein.
If you think 240 calories is too much. I recommend mixing 1/2 cup Kashi Go lean with 1/2 cup of cheerios (150 cal, 200 cal w/ 2% milk)/. You will probably get just as full and save 50 calories.

If you have never tried it it's definitely worth the try. Hopefully it will fill you up to. If it doesn't try eating it with a piece of fruit.
I typically purchase them when there are sale 2/$6 or 2/$5. Otherwise they are about $4.50/box.
Just to update you guys, I have experienced a lot of life changes in the past month. It's kept me quite busy which is why my blogging has been sporadic. I was accepted into my top choice Clinical Pychology PhD program which is located in Maryland. I will be moving to the D.C. area at the end of July. Also, my boyfriend proposed to me, I am soooo excited.
My health is still a priority. I still work out 5-6 times a week. I alternate days with weight training and do cardio at least 5 x a week. I have new motivation (the wedding) to loose the rest of the weight, so hopefully I will meet my goal.

I've eaten Kashi Go Lean and can highly recommend it. Congratulations on the engagement - thats fantastic news!
I usually like healthy food and I love granola but to me this stuff is down right nasty. Glad you like it though.
Congratulations on the engagement! How exciting... I also love Kashi products. BUT oddly, I've never tried their cereal. I'm not really a cereal person, but I need to get back into it for breakfast purposes. I will defo give it a whirl now.
How can you eat Kashi cereal and cherries without a bad case of the runs? I like the cereal, but it is a fiber blast to the colon. Cherries are also a natural laxative:)
I like your site.
Kashi really turned me off recently. They had a massive recall of their "chewy trail mix" bars, back when the peanut scare was big.

E-Coli. Cant get down with that.
Congratulations on your engagement! I love this cereal for the taste but find the regular Kashi GoLean is a better deal nutritionally. More protein, more fiber, less calories. I usually keep both cereals on hand but put the GoLean Crunch in yogurt (like granola) and eat the other for breakfast.
